The Citizenship by Investment Unit of Antigua and Barbuda had initially announced on the 4th of March 2022 that it was temporarily suspending the receipt of citizenship applications from citizens of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. On the 8th of July this decision was reversed, and the citizenship unit resumed processing of applications only for nationals of Russia and Belarus.
Antigua & Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Programme
In communication issued by the Citizenship by Investment Unit of Antigua & Barbuda to licenced agents on the 19th of August, it was announced that as effective from 28th July 2022, the receipt and processing of applications from Russian and Belarussian nationals under the Antigua & Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Programme has been suspended. This decision is notwithstanding the citizenship unit previously announced policy decision which had re-opened the programme after the first suspension on the 8th of July 2022.
In its statement the Citizenship by Investment Unit reiterated that it remains committed to operating the citizenship programme with the highest level of transparency and integrity while upholding its international obligations.
At this stage, Ukrainian nationals remain precluded from applying for citizenship in Antigua & Barbuda due to the inability to conduct due diligence investigations on prospective applicants.
