Moldova Citizenship by Investment Programme - MCBI
From the end of 2018, it is possible to acquire citizenship of Moldova and thus enjoy visa-free travel to 122 countries by means of investment. The Moldova Citizenship by Investment Programme (MCBI) is the latest citizenship programme to be launched in Europe and one of the first to offer such a diverse portfolio of visa-free travel destinations including the Schengen Area, Turkey and Russia. Citizenship applications are to be submitted through an accredited agent and the process can be completed within a period of 90 days. The citizenship programme grants citizenship to the applicant and his family members in exchange of a donation to the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Moldova.
The donation required to the PIF is the following:
- EUR 100,000 for a single applicant
- EUR 115,000 for a couple
- EUR 145,000 for a family of four
- EUR 155,000 for a family of five or more
Moldova Agreement with the Schengen Area
The EU-Moldova visa liberalisation process was launched in June 2010 and in 2013 the European Commission proposed to allow visa-free travel to the Schengen Area for Moldovan nationals holding a biometric passport. This decision came into effect on the 28th of April 2014 and from this date onwards Moldovan citizens holding a biometric passport were no longer required to apply for a visa when they travelled to the Schengen Area for a stay of 90 days.
